Family Feud Philippines returns this October 2!

Family Feud Philippines returns this October 2 on GMA Network, Inc..

Family Feud first premiered in 1976 and has had multiple versions and hosts over the years.

But it is still a hit today. It’s interesting to figure out why:

✅ Relatable Survey Questions: Questions like “Name something you can find in an office?” or “What’s a popular place to go on vacation?” are universally interesting and hence appealing to a wide audience.

✅ Interactive Gameplay: The game format encourages viewer engagement as they can play along by guessing the survey responses themselves. This interactivity adds to the show’s appeal.

✅ Family Dynamics: The family rivalries on display in “Family Feud” are a perfect example of family dynamics in action. The audience enjoys seeing the family members interact since it may lead to dramatic and comedic situations.

✅ Host personalities: The program has benefited greatly from the charm and wit of its many hosts throughout the years. Hosts with diverse backgrounds and perspectives, such as Richard Dawson, Steve Harvey, and others, have given the program a distinct flavor. In the Philippines, our host is Dingdong Dantes, who is also one of the most popular actors in the country.

✅ Humor and entertainment: Contestants on “Family Feud” often give funny or surprising answers, which leads to funny moments. The show is amusing to watch because of these entertaining parts.

✅Prize Incentives: Winning families may play the extra round for cash. These incentives excite and motivate competitors and spectators. Family Feud Philippines also has a Guess To Win Promo segment so that home viewers can also win up to 20,000 pesos. In the local version, winning families and/or teams on the Philippine version can take home as much as 200,000 pesos and their chosen charities also get 20,000 pesos.

✅Game Show Format: “Family Feud” has a traditional format with clear rules and a competitive framework that audiences love.

✅Cultural Impact: “Family Feud” has become a cultural phenomenon, with catchphrases and memorable moments that have become part of popular culture. This cultural impact has helped sustain its popularity.

💖I’m so grateful and honored to be part of the creative team for the Philippine version of Family Feud, one of the most well-known longest-running game shows of all time.

📸Sharing with you a preview of our stage. We’ll return on air and online next week! 🙂

In a truly unprecedented turn of events, the television landscape has been rocked to its core recently as ABS-CBN’s powerhouse noontime show, “It’s Showtime,” has unexpectedly made its debut last April 6 on GMA Network , the former’s long-standing “competitor network” in the Philippine broadcasting industry.

TV advertising as a source of brand discovery

Is TV dying?

According to a report by Meltwater released this July, “ads on tv” is the second source of brand discovery. On top of the list is “search engines”. I shared the picture of the slide below.

As someone who works in the broadcasting business, I’ve seen how TV has changed to meet the growing desire for material while digital media has grown. I believe that companies should maximize online and TV exposure to boost brand discovery and solidify brand awareness.

Through its reach, impact, and narrative form, TV advertising may increase brand recognition. Here’s how TV advertising achieves this:

Large Audience. TV reaches a wide range of demographics, interests, and places. This vast reach exposes a brand’s message to many prospective consumers.

Credibility. Brands may gain credibility by appearing on famous TV programs or networks. Trust may increase if viewers link the brand with the TV network’s quality and ideals.

TV advertising using celebrities may boost company awareness and positivity. These people may be trusted or admired, increasing brand recognition.

Event Promotion. TV promotes product debuts, special deals, and brand-sponsored activities well. It can generate excitement and anticipation among viewers.

Brand Consistency. TV ads maintain the brand’s visual and message identity. Consumers remember the brand better due to this consistency.

TV ads can be part of a bigger marketing plan that uses both online and offline platforms. This gives customers an uniform, positive experience that makes them more cognizant about the brand.

Do I have connections here who incorporate TV advertising in their business/ marketing plan? Would love to know your thoughts! 🙂

How to stay productive at work (especially during afternoon)

Time check! It’s 2pm. I usually get sleepy around this time. 🙂

Over the years, I’ve discovered some hacks/tips to stay productive especially during ‘siesta hours’.

After lunch, energy levels drop, making afternoon productivity difficult for many. We can increase afternoon productivity with the appropriate tactics and attitude.

How can we remain productive at work in the afternoon:

Prioritise tasks. Start the day by determining your afternoon MITs (most important tasks). Start with them to maximize your peak production hours.

Create a dedicated workspace: Keep it clean, tidy, and distraction-free. Clutter-free and pleasant environments help you concentrate.

Manage Time. Use the Pomodoro Technique to work in 25-minute bursts with 5-minute breaks. This helps you focus and energize.

Get natural light to increase your mood and energy. Take advantage of natural light by working outside or near a window.

Meditate. In the afternoon, practice mindfulness or brief relaxation activities to clear your thoughts and minimize tension. A little meditation or deep-breathing practice helps refresh your attention.

Good bye, National Geographic

Today is sad day for TV. National Geographic is no longer available in cable TV in the Philippines.

The Walt Disney Company has decided to cease the broadcast of these Disney channels in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines effective October 1, 2023. As a result, all pay TV operators in the country will no longer be able to offer these channels.

The following channels are no longer be available effective October 1, 2023 on SKYcable: Baby TV, National Geographic, National Geographic Wild, Star Chinese Movies, and Star Chinese Channel.

The last transmission date of the said channels is on September 30, 2023, 11:59:59 pm.

Taking into account the age distribution of the population, one might argue that streaming services would eventually replace linear television as the preferred method of viewing for both young and elderly.

But this transition takes time, and not all millennials may have abandoned their parents’ TV viewing habits. New habits have definitely formed, but maybe some of the older ones will still remain.

TV advertising’s worldwide fall will be linear TV’s largest problem, shifting investment away from content creators and owners. The same linear content owners must construct several streaming offerings to recoup lost income, switching from linear to digital.

Admittedly, I don’t watch TV as much as I did in the past.
Still, I will miss NatGeo.

Lessons Learned from Barbie’s Pink Publicity Marketing Strategy

What I’ve Learned from Barbie’s Pink Publicity Marketing Strategy:

✅ Mattel appealed to youngsters and adults who grew up with Barbie. Marketers may use nostalgia to engage with customers by reviewing and reinventing their brand’s history.

✅ The marketing approach understood both youngsters and adults as potential customers. To create targeted communications, companies should segment their target demographic.

✅The Barbie movie promoted diversity and empowerment. Marketers may use this method to develop stories that represent their audience’s different experiences and cultures.

✅ Influencers, celebrities, and other partners helped Mattel promote the movie. Businesses may work with influencers and other businesses to reach new audiences.

✅ The significance of female-led initiatives was brought to light by the popularity of the film Barbie, which Greta Gerwig directed. In order to demonstrate their dedication to inclusiveness and equality, businesses may demonstrate this commitment by embracing gender diversity and empowering female leaders inside their enterprises.

Key Takeaways from Variety’s Entertainment & Technology Summit

Sharing here some key takeaways from Variety’s Entertainment & Technology Summit

1. Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz said the “Barbie” movie was not a one-off. During his keynote talk at the summit Kreiz revealed that it’s part and parcel of the company’s long-range, deliberate strategy to manage its intellectual property as entertainment franchises rather than simply toys.

2. “Historically you would’ve seen a full-page ad in a newspaper,” Wallach said. “But now, an artist can sell out a global tour by sending something out on TikTok or Instagram. It really has changed, so the fans are able to find the artist because the artist is out there talking to them on a daily basis.”

3. “It’s important for each creator to be authentic to their brand and voice,” said King. “But also for us as brands to be true to who we are and not try to be something that we’re not. For entertainment brands, it’s leaning into the people, creators and content that aligns with the content we’re putting out there.”

4. Alex Sanger, executive VP of Universal Pictures’ global digital marketing, shared that the studio utilized an “interactive” marketing approach with “M3GAN” which utilized chatbots that could connect fans with the murderous doll. “There were 20 million messages shared between Megan and our consumers,” he said. “We’re trying to create 1:1 experiences for our experiences and amplify beyond that.”

5. The biggest gaming brands like Fortnite and Roblox are no strangers to IP mixing within their platforms. “Because Roblox is a platform, our focus is on building tools that allow brands to [thrive],” said Roblox’s head of entertainment partnerships, Todd Lichten. “Success happens when brands who know their properties are able to hook up with developers to give people on Roblox [content] they can’t get anywhere else.” For Lichten, entertainment storytelling is heightened when incorporating “a gaming element” into a product that serves as “a place for fans to collect.”

6. Mike Verdu, VP of games at Netflix, discussed how the streamer has been able to elevate its content with the introduction of gaming titles — available for no extra cost. “Our games have no in-game monetization, they come as part of your subscription,” Verdu explained. “Without the pressure to monetize, all you need to do is delight your players… It perfectly aligns the interests of the game makers and players.”

7. To that point, Evan Adlman, EVP of commercial sales and revenue operations at AMC Networks, remarked on how consumers now hold more power over their consumption. “We’re no longer setting the appointment – the viewer is,” said Adlman. “There’s so much more viewership happening within these programs that happening outside of the traditional time [we’ve set].” He added, “Their premiere is tonight when they sit down and watch.”

8. “AI is fueled by data, but the big problem with that is that data is not tabular with columns and rows,” he said. “AI kind of expects the world to look like that,” though Amazon’s AI and machine learning general manager Ti White affirmed AI is “here to stay. I do not think it’s a glitch or fad — it’s mainstream.”

9. Charles D. King’s MACRO, the multi-platform media company behind the Academy Award-winning “Judas and the Black Messiah,” prioritizes representing the voice and perspectives of Black, indigenous and people of color. King explained that a major factor behind the company’s success stems from securing capital in order to continue creating projects about underrepresented groups.

10. At the final Creators in the Zeitgeist panel, WME digital agent Madeline Baldi explained that the key to success in the content creation space comes with “finding your niche.” She added, “The most important thing is regardless of where you sit in digital, it’s finding your niche.”

Past Lives (2023)

Past Lives, the new film by Celine Song, is fantastic.

For me, the story’s strength (and the directorial choices) lies in the fact that it deals with themes more than simple romantic love.

I would understand how someone looking for a more conventional love story with a guaranteed happy ending could be let down by this.

What I also appreciate in the film is its depiction of the concept that loving is also politics.

In the movie, memory and identity have a huge role in the story of Nora and Have Sung.

I don’t want to spoil anything for folks who haven’t watched it yet, but this is a great example of showing rather than telling why characters in a ‘romantic’ film don’t have to end up together.

Here’s what you need to know about life insurance in the Philippines

Do you want to improve your financial life this coming 2021? Great! A lot of people struggle so much and are so oblivious when it comes to financing. We’ll guide you on how to handle and secure your money correctly!

Many people don’t have the word “insurance” in their vocabulary and find it boring. But as you get older, you’ll start to appreciate the beauty of life insurance more and more.

So what is life insurance?

Life insurance is a contract between the client and the company. The client will pay the life insurance company a monthly fee in return for a more significant amount of money when the client dies or a critical event occurs as agreed in the contract. To summarize, it’s basically a financial security for you and your family, especially if you’re the breadwinner.

These days, the popular type of life insurance is called VUL or variable life insurance. It has an insurance + investment component. The insurance part is your protection, while the investment can serve as your savings or retirement fund. Keep in mind though that when investing, the projection must always be long-term. The investment benefits are usually felt in a couple of years, so be prepared to invest in, long term.

When do you start investing in life insurance?

The best time to start investing in life insurance is at a young age or as early as possible. The earlier you start, the more time you have to build your wealth and savings, and hence you become more financially secure in the long run. You don’t need to force yourself to get life insurance once you get a job for the first time. You can do so in your late 20s or you can get one when you already have a stable income.

Keep in mind that some life insurance companies charge higher monthly fees to those of older age. The older you are, the shorter the time you have to live and pay your insurance company. But if you start younger, you’re more likely to have a more reasonably bargained insurance contract. Your youth is your advantage in investing in life insurance.

What to look for when choosing your insurance provider

The first and most crucial step is finding out if your provider is approved by the Insurance Commission in your country and if it has a good reputation and reviews. Do your research, ask your family and friends about their experiences with their life insurance providers. Look for a provider that has a fast, easy, and convenient system to use. So being able to communicate easily with an insurance agent is necessary.

The second step is to look at the financial strength/status of your desired insurance company you want to invest in. As for me, I am with PruLife UK, and it has a solid track record in the Philippines, so you need not worry. In fact PruLife is the number 1 insurance company in the Philippines in 2020.

Which life insurance do you need to invest in?

There are three types of life insurance: Term life insurance, whole life insurance, and endowment.

Term life insurance is limited to a fixed number of years. It’s usually the most affordable among the three, and it’s the most basic type of life insurance. However, you won’t get any added benefits or investment returns with this type of life insurance.

Whole life insurance provides coverage for the insured and covers the investor until they pass away. There’s no limit for this type of insurance, and you will receive cash benefits and dividends. It may be more expensive than life term insurance, but that means the investments are better! This is best for investors who intend to secure their children’s future.

Endowment has both the features of term life and whole life. It has a term limit but will provide death benefits when you die after the term limit. This can be used for retirement plans, college funds, future hospital bills, and many more.
